Wow now that I have this space, I can write stories about my pictures and I love this concept! I know like 5 people are reading this, so hello to those five people, but this is kinda my own catalogue of the pictures I take and why I take them! An interesting discussion I had today was about the motivation behind my pictures is, and truly it is the people around me and the beauty of life around me. I think the fleeting nature of the moment with the people around it is what makes documentary photography so interesting for me, so here is my recounting of Christmas Day 2022!

First, we had to set up the tree, which we had been putting off for quite some time now, cause that is the life of young adults, a lot of just avoiding things! So first thing in the morning, we got to decorating the tree, and get the household into festive cheer for the day!

I was kinda just bouncing around with my camera and taking pictures while the ornaments were being juggled around me in an intricate chain! I did in fact put up a few ornaments which I will consider an achievement since I did it with a camera in one hand and the ornament in the other hand and I did it with the fact that the tree was way taller than I was!
At this point it was time to break out the specialized ornaments and I think this picture sums up the moments we gifted these ornaments to Corona, where we confronted with the fact that the C came framed in the this Canadian plaid arrangement, while the A and the J that we had were very much not framed! The true story behind that one was that we couldn't find the right set of letters in one place (Apparently A, J, and C are pretty hard to get in one set of Christmas ornaments)

More presents were given around special emphasis on the Woodstock which also sings and wiggles around, and I personally think is a little scary. The cat (named Ella, has not been previously introduced) also got a hat which when presented with the prospect of having something put on her head she ran away as fast as catly (see what I did there hehe) possible! We did top the tree with the Woodstock because why not?

Then began the actual gift-opening as we unloaded the entire suitcase of gifts that we had bought for Corona all the way from Oklahoma. This is always one of my favorite parts of Christmas as it reminds me of fond memories that I had as a child opening gifts and spending some downtime Christmas morning!! So here are some pictures that I got from that!

This bag that A is carrying is only one of the three or four bags we had stored all across the semester as we collected gifts from across Oklahoma (literally) for Corona!

I know this shot of Corona with all time favorite cookbook (Salt, Fat, Acid, and Heat by Samin Nosrat) absolutely slaps!

I think I might be personally responsible for the Teenage Dirtbag pictures of A!
Another person who was enjoying this gift unwrapping was Ella, as she was munching on the fake Target Christmas tree trying to get into the spirit of the Holidays too!

Well then what followed was the preparation for Christmas Dinner! Corona got to cooking up a feast (like they do) and we got to assisting in whatever way we could! The first duty that A was assigned was feeding the chef breakfast which included the super nutritious Coco Puffs and whole milk (keep in mind the chef is highly lactose intolerant)

(Corona says I capture when they are making weird faces but I am a poor documentary photographer, I do not document anything that does not happen, so...)

There was also a fair amount of threats being issued in the kitchen, although this is just a regular part of the cooking process in this household now, so it was nothing out of the ordinary for me! A as usual was fooling around with our roast for Christmas while Corona tried to get everything under control. After this I settled in for my Christmas afternoon nap, so by the time I woke up the roast was done, side-dishes were being made, and A had donned the witches hat for no apparent reason.

All hands were on deck to make this dinner happen, and I was still taking pictures, but I did contribute do not worry, but I was put in-charge of documenting so I did the documenting...

I was lying on the ground with the cat to take this picture, as we were prepping for the dinner this night!!

And finally, A was looking like the Evil queen with the witches hat, and the pomegranate, and that my friends is the recipe to what I call a successful Christmas!! Next year this Christmas is completely going to be on the East Coast since a lot of big changes are coming in my life in 2023 so stay tuned mis amigos as we go on this journey!
